He started his career as a playback singer with the song Aashiq Banaya Aapne which was his first song as a singer, earned him numerous awards for best playback singer, including Filmfare Awards, IIFA Awards, Zee Cine Awards.
In 2005, he had composed songs for more than ten films including Aashiq Banaya Apne, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?. In 2004, he had worked in 10 films as a composer, among them the music of Aitraaz become popular. The album of one of the most selling Bollywood album of all time and often regarded as the best album of the decade. Reshammiya came to prominence when he composed songs for another Salman Khan-starrer film Tere Naam (2003), for which he won several accolades for Best Music direction including Zee Cine Award, Screen Award. He came to prominence when he composed music for Humraaz, the album became so much popular which earned him a nomination for Filmafare Award for Best Music Direction.

His first movie as a solo composer was another Salman Khan starrer film, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge. He then composed music for Bandhan, Hello Brother with other composers. In 1998, he made his debut as a music composer with the Salman Khan starrer film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, composing two songs for the film "Pyaar Kiya To Darn Kya" and ' "Tum Par Hum Hai Aatke", both song became hit. Reshammiya's father Vipin Reshammiya was supposed to make a film with Salman Khan, back in 90s, which did not happen and Khan listening to his composition was impressed and promised him to give a break to compose music for his film. He also composed title tracks for some of his serials.

Since the age of 16, Reshammiya started producing TV serials like "Andaz", "Ahha", "Aman", "Aashiqui", "Amar Prem and Jaan" on Zee TV.
